The Strategy, International Relations and Communications Department has a vital role in CySEC’s operation. The Department is divided into three sub-departments: Strategy, International Relations and Communications.
The Department is responsible for CySEC’s strategic planning, internal and external communication and promotion of the work of CySEC, international relations, financial literacy of the public and support to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman on the aforementioned topics.
The responsibilities of the Strategy, International Relations and Communications Department mainly comprise:

Support to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman on matters pertaining to Strategy, such as involvement in monitoring and evaluating developments regarding the securities market and the regulatory framework and to submit recommendations to the Chairman in formulating the strategy and objectives of CySEC in the light of developments in the securities market, monitoring the implementation of the Strategic Plan of CySEC and updating the Chairman and Vice-Chairman at regular intervals and support the Chairman and Vice-Chairman in order to better coordinate the work of CySEC and its relations with other Authorities or interested parties in Cyprus and abroad.

Internal and External Communication, including the submission of recommendations on communication policy issues, reviewing of publications, coordination of public relation activities, conferences and other events and monitoring of domestic and international daily press and developments at European and international level.

Financial Education of the public.

International Relations, including communication with the relevant supervisory Authorities and organizations abroad, negotiation and conclusion of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with competent supervisory Authorities abroad and participating/coordinating CySEC’s participation in the workings of ESMA, the Mediterranean Partnership of Securities Regulator (MPSR) and IOSCO. Furthermore, it is responsible for the negotiations and conclusion of MoU with other supervisory Authorities and organisations in Cyprus as well as for a significant degree of domestic cooperation.

Coordination and Representation of CySEC, in Cyprus and abroad, internal coordination regarding ESMA and external coordination regarding governmental services and the other competent supervisory Authorities οf the financial sector of Cyprus, support to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman on ESMA matters, the MPSR and the Committee of the Supervisory Authorities of the Financial Sector.
