During January and September 2019, the annual blood donations from CySEC’s staff took place at the Engomi Blood Donation Centre.

CySEC’s staff supported the “Agia Skepi” drug rehabilitation community with the participation of CySEC’s staff as volunteer runners in the Nicosia Marathon’s 5 km race.

Participation in financial support for various CSR campaigns
Participation in financial support for various CSR campaigns
CySEC’s staff gave financial support to families whose children needed surgery, for example: donation to the family of a child with cerebral palsy who had to be transferred to the U.S.A for surgery, donation to the family of a child who had to be transferred to Israel for surgery, donation to cover the cost for the transfer of a young woman with leukaemia and her mother to Germany to be submitted to a bone marrow transplant. In all cases, the families cannot afford to pay for the required treatments.

CySEC Gastronomic Charity Bazaar
During 2019, the CySEC Gastronomic Charity Bazaar continued inside CySEC. The bazaar included the sale by piece of homemade sweets and savouries prepared by the CySEC staff, to raise money for charity. Specifically, with the money collected from the bazaar, CySEC’s staff participated in the campaign “Adopt a family for Christmas”.

Support of Charity Institutions
In April 2019, on the occasion of the essential supply of Easter candles, CySEC’s staff supported many charity institutions by purchasing candles, which were made by volunteers of the following institutions: Cyprus Anti-cancer Society, Karaiskakeio Foundation, “Apostolos Varnavas” Charity association, and the Pancyprian Parent - Friends Society of the Children's Oncology Unit.

In May 2019, CySEC’s staff made a joint donation in the “Bike and me” campaign, for the support of the Cyprus Anti-cancer Society.

All Children with necessities for school
In 2018, within the framework of the activities of the Pancyprian Volunteer Council, CySEC’s personnel participated in the campaign “All Children with necessities for school”, collecting the necessary school equipment that was given for the support of less fortunate children.

Karaiskakio Foundation’s actions
In order to support the Karaiskakio Foundation’s campaign called “#GoOrangeForALife”, money was collected from the sales of the Foundation’s collective products (“#GoOrange” bracelet, cups, “happy” bag) among CySEC’s personnel.

Tree planting
In November 2019, CySEC’s staff participated in a tree planting, which was one of the actions of the Round Table 6 Limassol non-profit organization, with support of the “300.000 Trees in Nicosia” citizens’ initiative.

In 2019, the “CySEC Xmas Market” charity Christmas bazaar took place. The bazaar included the sale by piece of homemade sweets and savouries prepared by the CySEC staff, to raise money for charity. Specifically, with the money collected from the bazaar, CySEC’s staff participated in the campaign “Adopt a family for Christmas”. CySEC’s staff also supported the Cyprus Anti-cancer Society and the Pancyprian Society for Children with Cancer and Relevant Deceases “Ena Oneiro Mia Efxi”, which were present in “CySEC Xmas Market” with volunteers who sold their products among the staff.

Collection of clothes, toys, and school items for the Red Cross
Furthermore, during the year CySEC personnel collected various toys, clothing, first need products, and school items for the children of families in need, which were collected by the Red Cross and the Volunteerism Council.

Recycling
Recycling
CySEC recycles various materials such as paper, plastic and batteries to help save both energy and raw materials and reduce the volume of waste and its impact on the environment. To this end, it keeps special recycling bins at various points within the CySEC building and recycles all paper it consumes. CySEC participates in the Green Dot Cyprus Packaging Recycling Program and recycles batteries, ink cartridges, printers and various other materials containing harmful substances for human health and the environment. With the collection and recycling of these materials the diffusion of these substances into the environment is avoided and energy and valuable natural resources are conserved.

Environmental protection and energy saving
CySEC adopts all the proposed measures/guidelines issued by the Energy Service of the Ministry of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, as well as by the Cyprus Energy Foundation. In addition, the provisions contained in the tenders conducted by CySEC for the purchase of products provide for the purchase of environmentally friendly products.
