The legal framework of the Cyprus capital market consists of Laws, Regulations voted by the Parliament as well as Directives, Circulars, issued, periodically by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.
Rules that regulate and determine the existence and/or behavior of natural and legal persons which are imposed by an authority able to impose its will. The rules that govern the Cypriot capital market are voted by the Parliament of Representatives and supervised by the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission , which is the responsible authority overseeing their enforcement.
Directives of regulatory content that are published from the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission as the responsible Supervisory Authority, and are published under authorisation of Laws governing the Cypriot Capital market and are published in the Official Gazette of the Cyprus Republic.
They are published periodically from the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission and they are addressed in each interested natural or legal individual for the purpose of clarifying and/or guiding of certain provisions of the Laws and Regulations that govern the Cyprus Capital Market and which require such explanation. Circulars do not have any legal force.
