The Department of Strategy and International Relations is responsible for the CySEC’s strategic planning, internal and external communication and promotion of the work of the CySEC, international relations, public education on capital market issues and investment securities services and support to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman on the aforementioned topics.
The responsibilities of the Strategy and International Relations Department mainly comprise:
Support to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman and Issues of Strategy and Policy, such as involvement in monitoring and evaluating developments regarding the securities market and the regulatory framework and to submit recommendations to the Chairman in formulating the strategy and objectives of the CySEC in the light of developments in the securities market, monitoring the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the CySEC and updating the Chairman and Vice-Chairman at regular intervals and support the Chairman and Vice-Chairman in order to better coordinate the work of the CySEC and its relations with other Authorities or interested parties of Cyprus.
Internal and External Communication, including the submission of recommendations on communication policy issues, reviewing of publications, coordination of public relation activities, seminars, conferences and other events and monitoring of domestic and international daily press and developments at european and international level.
Financial Education and Information of the public
International Relations, including communication with the relevant supervisory Authorities and organizations abroad, negotiation and conclusion of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with competent supervisory Authorities abroad and monitor the works of ESMA, the ESRB and IOSCO.
Coordination and Representation of the CySEC, internal coordination regarding ESMA and external coordination regarding governmental services and the other competent supervisory Authorities οf the financial sector of Cyprus, the representation of the CySEC on ESMA's Review Panel, the ESRB, the Committee of the Supervisory Authorities of the Financial Sector, the Advisory Committee on implementation of sanctions by the Security Council resolutions of the United Nations and restrictive measures by EU Regulations and on the Managing Board of the the Financial Ombudsman of the Republic of Cyprus.
